Gp Capt Bill Taylor OBE IEng FRAeS RAF (Rtd)

It is with great sadness that we report the loss of our Honorary President after a long illness on Friday 13th April following a seizure.

Bill Taylor joined us in 2016 and was particularly honoured to have been invited to be our Honorary President. Having retired from the RAF he set up his own engineering company, de Havilland Support Limited with his close friends and colleagues, Stuart McKay (Rtd) and Mark Millar in 2000. Based at Duxford they took on the design responsibility for the civil-certified de Havilland aircraft types. They also provide an element of support to the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.

Although not serving at RAF Coltishall he had been involved in a wide range of aircraft over his career including the Jaguar at Bruggen and Norfolk was particularly familiar as he had served at West Raynham, Honington, Marham and Swanton Morley. He took a great interest in our future and the history and heritage of RAF Coltishall and its evolving place in the Norfolk Enterprise Zone. He fully supported our stance with the Scottow Enterprise Park (SEP) and agreed that we should look to the future.

Paul was a SoCA member but after he left the museum he did not renew. Several of the long standing SoCA volunteers at the RAFADRM would have known him.

Non Birchall was a staunch supporter of the Spirit of Coltishall Association. She attended many functions and never missed an AGM. Her interest in the history of RAF Coltishall and its surrounding features will na'er be forgotten.

Sidney Sexton passed away on the 17th April 2014 at the grand old age of 99.  Sid was a member of the Spirit of Coltishall Association until 2012 when dementia took over. The CO was Wing Commander Laddie Lucas and both of these officers remained friends with Sid for the rest of their lives.
